Pecker’s Up!

For a few weeks now we have a Greater Spotted Woodpecker visiting our garden and feasting on the peanuts.

We have also seen greenfinches, bluetits and a whole menagerie of feathered friends.

Let us know what you’ve seen out and about! Photographs would be great!

Rat as big as a Donkey!!

Well not quite as big as a donkey but he is in my world! He’s given me the runaround for weeks. He is nimble enough to nick the bait off the rat traps when a poor little shrew/moley type creature isn’t! He’s eaten bucketfulls of poison and even pinched the tray I left it out on. He’s brazen enough to saunter around the lawn as though he owns the place and he’s bitten a big hole in the side of my shed. I’ve bought a new fangled super trap and laced it with peanut butter (top tip apparently) so hopefully he’s gonna be wearing that as a necklace sometime soon. It’s becoming a bit of a duel!

The trap’s a demon! Got a result first time out but it wasn’t the Big Guy! Maybe tonight we’ll get him!

RESULT!! I think we have him. John, our next door neighbour has found the beast brown bread on his lawn! Let’s hope it’s him – until next time!

Saw this chap on the bird’s peanuts and he shot into the apple tree to “hide” from me, but curiosity got the better of him! Really pleased with the tree photo!

Seen these lovely fella’s about for a week or so now but they’re quite elusive. Managed to snap these through the window so the quality’s not brilliant but hey…………………. what a catch!

I was up early this morning and came across the squirrel again, making his way towards the bird’s nuts. He didn’t like the look of me at first and shot off in a hurry but soon became nosy and made his way back tentatively. They must be really good because he had to have another go at them!
